Artist Statement....A Simple Statement....I Create Because I Love it...

 

 Creative expression is my lifeline, expressing myself in color, texture and icons of the things that inspire me is my passion.  I am an emotional being and I find solace and serenity while conveying my impression of the things I consider powerful yet delicate, strong yet graceful and intense yet peaceful.  The subject matter in my art is predominantly women, horses, hearts and angels.  All of these themes represent graceful strength.  

               

I paint with vibrant color to communicate poised power. Texture is vital to my message, therefore I often paint on wood.  Dimension is compelling to me, with the thought of change.  I view the original piece of wood as beautiful as it is and through the creative process it is enhanced and grows and reveals something new and different.  A metaphor for the human spirit. I believe that art is a healing power, hence I graduated with my Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling .- Art Therapy, after owning a graphic design business for 30 years.  I am an advocate for positive change in individuals, to gain a sense of self-awareness and acceptance.  I share my passion for art with others in hope that they may heal and express their emotions creatively. I truly believe there exists an artist in everyone.  

 

Every  piece is an original. I express my emotions through many mediums including assemblage and sculpture. It is a process not a product until i am finished.  I have been commissioned to create similar pieces that an individual connects with emotionally.
